The Work Has Begun!

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.  Zechariah 4:10

The work has begun!  As I reflect on the Unstoppable Conference, I am overwhelmed with gratefulness.

Leading up to the conference I was believing God for 100 people to attend….that was my prayer/confession for over 2 months.  We promoted the event regularly on social media and were even featured on Channel 8 News morning show.

There were approximately 35 people at the Unstoppable Conference, including the teen assistants and others we had helping out.

The workshop I taught was “Don’t Believe Everything You Think:  No More Fake News”.

And oh boy, after the conference the fake news reel was cued up in my mind.  BUT I did not let it play.

Instead I chose to focus on the good:

1.  My friendship with my cohost, Nat Trodahl  was strengthened.  We worked so well together in putting the conference together.

2.  The first two tickets that were purchased were from my friends at work, who show me so much love and support during my speaking journey.

3. Three people purchased BOGO tickets knowing they couldn’t be there, but wanted to support what I was doing and bless someone else with tickets.  As a result 6 people were able to be blessed and attend for free.

4. Our original Emcee was not able to make it. Through a Sovereign setup, I was having a work related conversation with  a coworker; she had seen some of my social media posts about the event and asked if there was an opportunity to speak.  One thing led to another and just 3 days before the event she agreed to be our emcee! She did an amazing job and I discovered a sister in Christ.

5. Our teen assistants were amazing, not only did they help, they were part of my workshop and had an opportunity to speak!  Their voices were heard and I pray they will always remember that day. To hear our young people speak and see their participation and excitement was the best part!

6. It was an opportunity to support Christian, small, local woman-owned, minority business by having our conference at the Beautiful Event Center.  The Unstoppable Conference was the first official event there!

7.  I was surrounded by friends and family.  My mom was there, my sister was there and was a panelist,  my son & daughter-in-love were there, and my dear friend of over 40 years was there.

I believe those that were there felt the love of God that day, I know I did!  As I think about this humble beginning, what God is starting, I am grateful.  I am grateful for the journey, for all the things that I learned through this experience.  There were so many divine connections and God loved on each and every person who was a part of this event.

A friend of mine asked me what was next; I told her I was planning to have a retreat in July. She said, no what’s next right now?  What are you going to do with the momentum you have from this event?  So here I am, launching the When She Speaks blog!

When She Speaks was birthed from Proverbs 31:26 When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.

This blog will be a place where I where share stories of my journey transitioning from my current government job of 16 years to stepping out in faith to do what God has put me here to do. What has God put me here to do?  Encourage people to know who they are in Christ, to know what God has put them here to do and do it!

I invite you to walk this path with me and start a journey of your own. Be sure to subscribe so you never miss a post!”
